In the Catalunya province of Spain, we have a team made up of a H.O.P.E.
missionary couple from the U.S. with over 20 years of experience in
Spain, a Spanish missionary couple and two self-supporting missionary
couples from South America that minister together to plant churches.
Needs
In
Spain the barriers to the hearts of the people of Catalunya are as
difficult as the mountainous physical terrain of our ministry in the
Ixil triangle of Guatemala. Spain is a country of extreme spiritual
darkness where less than .01% of the population would identify
themselves as an evangelical Christian. The first question that we ask
when entering a new community is not whether there is a church but if
there is a Christian.
Church Planting, Tarrega, Spain
The emphasis in Spain is on planting churches in communities where there is
no other evangelical church. The plan is to focus on communities of
10,000 or more people - and then branch out to surrounding communities.
The work of the HOPE team has resulted in the establishment of an
independent church in the city of Tarrega. The church which started from
a small Bible Study now has more than 30 members and is still growing.
The goal is to continue this TEAM approach in other communities that do
not have a Gospel witness. |
