We have recently developed a close partnership with Colegio Lus y Vida (Light and Life School) which is a fully indigenous lead school
providing a Christian education. This is a very
unique indiginous school in an area where approximately 45,000 people
speak Ixil. The school is unique in that it teaches children to read
and write in their mother tongue Ixil first, and then they switch over
in their mid elementary years to learn Spanish. All the teachers in
the school are Ixil Christians who believe in raising up the younger
generation by educating both boys and girls and teaching them strong
values through the Bible.
This year we are further expanding
this ministry to include Junior High schools since the government
schools only reach the sixth grade. Through Christian education we are
preparing the leaders who will change this country for Christ. We also have a unique opportunity in the upcoming year to train teachers and
help incorporate our Firm Foundations Bible program at the Colegio Luz y
Vida.
Colegio Luz y Vida exists to:
- provide a well structured Christian education

- have well trained and prepared Christian teachers who will then be able
to prepare studenschool leadership that will at all times use
biblically based stewardship principles
- have education that is bilingual using both the Ixil and Spanish language
- serve the people of Salquil Grande and surrounding communities
- take care of and maintainthe school facilities to provide a model for health, safety, and quality education.ts well for Christian service

The Heartbeat of our Mission Strategy
HOPE Bible Mission is an evangelical, evangelistic, and nondenominational mission. HOPE's missionaries fellowship and work in partnership with believers, churches, and organizations of like faith and practice. We are a faith mission that relies upon the prayer and financial partnership of churches and individuals. We are accountable to the local church for careful stewardship of the resources that the Lord provides and we base all faith and practice on the principles of God's Word. |
